What does the term "Powder Coating" mean?

The term powder coating is used when finishing or painting wrought iron "steel" or aluminum stair railings, gates, balcony railings, pergolas, trellis or any material that pertains to metalwork. Powder coating is electrically charged dry pigment powder that is sprayed on the wrought iron or aluminum surface while a current is run through it. This assures that the paint is firmly attracted to the surface and remains there until it is baked on at a very high temperature. This process results in a uniform finish, without the drips, runs and bubbles commonly found when using liquid paint.

The Powder coating finishing process is durable and the colors used stay brilliant. It is a superior exterior paint finish that has excellent resistance to ultraviolet radiation, chalking, chipping and corrosion. Powder coating is low maintenance and usually lasts for years and years. It resists most stains or marks and can be easily cleaned with mild soap and a soft cloth. Standard industry colors are white, black, dark bronze, however, a wide variety of custom colors are also available.
