What is the difference between mahogany impact doors and mahogany standard doors?

Mahogany impact doors are manufactured in 1 3/4", 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" thickness where standard doors comes in 1 3/4" thickness only, unless done in a custom thickness or over 8' in height. Also, impact entry doors come with a multi-point locking system usually three-point or five-point where standard doors can have pullers, mortise locks or regular entry sets. If the impact doors have glass included, then it will come with impact glass usually uvekol which is thicker than regular safety glass that standard exterior doors come with. All impact doors are certified by a notice of acceptance (NOA) by either Miami-Dade County or State of Florida approvals certifying that the doors have been tested by a licensed testing facility in Florida.

Most all new construction and remodeling requires impact exterior doors to be impact rated and approved in the State of Florida. Other states in the U.S. and Caribbean islands are now adapting to the Dade County building codes so make sure to check with your local city, states and building code offices to inquire what your building codes are so you order the correct doors for your project.

Most models from our entrance doors collection are impact resistant with approval certification.
